1. Who we are

Deshpande Panchang Astro (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website https://gdpanchang.online and related services: the daily Soorya-Siddhanteeya panchang, the online store for printed editions and sacred goods, consultation booking, and patrika (birth-chart document) preparation.

We are based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. For privacy questions write to ask@deshpandepanchang.com or call +91 77768 16161. Postal address: 386 B, Yash Apartment, Narayanpeth, Pune, Maharashtra 411030, India.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and other applicable Indian law.

2. Scope

This policy applies to visitors and account holders of our website and any Google OAuth sign-in used to access the site. It covers data collected through forms, accounts, bookings, store checkout, patrika orders, emails, SMS/WhatsApp where enabled, and payment gateways.

It does not cover third-party websites we link to (for example YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or payment provider pages). Their own policies apply once you leave our site.

3. Data we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact: name, email address, mobile number, country, and account password (stored hashed).
  • Google sign-in (when enabled): your Google account name, email address, and Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Birth and consultation details: date, time, and place of birth; questions you submit; preferred language; and related notes needed to prepare a consultation or patrika.
  • Booking and session data: service chosen, slot time, consultation mode (online or in person in Pune), meeting links, attendance-related status, and audit events for staff actions.
  • Store and payment data: cart contents, shipping address, order history, amounts in Indian Rupees (stored in paise), and payment status. Card or UPI secrets are handled by Razorpay — we do not store full card numbers.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, cookies required for login/session/cart, and basic server logs for security and reliability.
  • Communications: emails, SMS, or WhatsApp messages we send or receive about orders, bookings, reminders, and support.

4. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Provide the panchang, store, booking, and patrika services you request.
  • Create and secure your account, including Google OAuth sign-in when offered.
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and fulfil store orders or consultation/patrika work.
  • Send transactional messages: order confirmation, payment links, meeting links, reminders, and patrika delivery notices.
  • Respond to support requests and operate the phone appointment desk.
  • Maintain audit logs required for booking, payment, and staff operations.
  • Protect the site against abuse, fraud, and unauthorised access.
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with processors who help us run the service, under appropriate safeguards:

  • Razorpay — payment processing and payment webhooks.
  • MSG91 (when configured) — SMS and WhatsApp transactional messages.
  • Email delivery providers used for SMTP transactional mail.
  • Zoom or Google Meet / Google Calendar (when configured) — online consultation meeting links and calendar invites.
  • Cloud hosting and database providers that host this application and its backups.
  • Staff and authorised astrologers who need birth details and questions to prepare your consultation or patrika.

7. Cookies and similar technology

We use essential cookies and similar storage for authentication, security, language preference, shopping cart, and guest order access. These are required for the site to function.

We do not currently run third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy and, where required, show a consent notice before non-essential cookies run.

8. Retention

We keep account, booking, order, payment, and patrika records for as long as needed to fulfil the service, meet tax and accounting duties, resolve disputes, and maintain audit integrity. Birth details tied to an open or completed patrika order are retained while the order and download records remain necessary.

You may request deletion of account data as described below. Some records may be retained in anonymised or legally required form after an account is closed.

9. Security

We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, role-based staff access, and server-side validation. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Please use a strong password and keep your login details private.

10. Children

Accounts and paid services are intended for persons 18 years or older. A parent or legal guardian may submit a minor’s birth details solely to obtain a consultation or patrika for that child. Do not create an account for a child under 18.

11. Your rights

Subject to Indian law, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, withdrawal of consent where processing is consent-based, and erasure or restriction where applicable. You may also raise a grievance with us.

To exercise these rights, email ask@deshpandepanchang.com with the subject “Privacy request” and enough detail for us to verify your identity and locate your records. We will respond within a reasonable period required by law.

12. Grievance officer

Grievance Officer: Gaurav Deshpande. Email: ask@deshpandepanchang.com. Phone: +91 77768 16161. Address: 386 B, Yash Apartment, Narayanpeth, Pune, Maharashtra 411030, India.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may pursue remedies available under the DPDP Act and other applicable Indian law.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where consent is separately required by law.
